Alternate Nostril Breathing, also known as Nadi Shodhana in Sanskrit, is a breathing practice that involves alternating the flow of breath through the left and right nostrils. This technique helps balance the two hemispheres of the brain and promotes a sense of calmness and relaxation.

How to Practice Alternate Nostril Breathing:

  1. Find a comfortable seated position with your spine straight.
  2. Place your left hand on your left knee in Chin Mudra (index finger and thumb touching).
  3. Use your right hand; place your thumb on your right nostril and your ring finger on your left nostril.
  4. Close your right nostril with your thumb and inhale through your left nostril for a count of four.
  5. Close your left nostril with your ring finger, release your right nostril, and exhale through the right nostril for a count of four.
  6. Inhale through the right nostril for a count of four, close the right nostril, and exhale through the left nostril for a count of four.
  7. This completes one round. Repeat for 5-10 rounds, focusing on your breath and the sensation of air moving through each nostril.
